The process began with the issuance of Indents from the Home Department on July 2, 2021, and November 23, 2021. The Board advertised the 1200 Sub-Inspector positions through Notification No. 06 of 2021 dated October 21, 2021, and Notice No. SSB/Secy//2021/7926-42 dated November 24, 2021. Candidates were invited based on specific criteria, including a Written Test, Physical Standard Test (PST)/Physical Endurance Test (PET), and additional weightage for NCC Certificate holders.

The Written Test and Result Announcement
Question: How was the examination conducted, and when was the result declared?
The Computer-Based Written Test (CBT) for the 1200 Sub-Inspector posts took place from December 7, 2022, to December 20, 2022, in multiple shifts. The Result/Score-sheet was then notified on November 3, 2023, under No. JKSSB COEOEXAM(UT)/54/2022-03 (7057013). Following this, the shortlisted candidates underwent the Physical Standard Test (PST)/Physical Endurance Test (PET) and Document Verification at Jammu and Srinagar.
Constitution of the Selection Committee
Question: How was the selection committee formed, and what reservations were made?
The JKSSB, through Office Order No. 323-SSB of 2023 dated December 22, 2023, constituted the Selection Committee. Notably, 72 posts were earmarked for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) candidates under Horizontal Reservation, while Persons with Disabilities were deemed ineligible for Sub-Inspector positions.
Approval and Notification of Provisional Selection
Question: What steps followed the Selection Committee’s work, leading to the Provisional Selection List?
The Provisional Selection List, based on merit and eligibility, was presented to the Board in its 251st Meeting on December 29, 2023. After deliberations, the Board approved the proposal, and the Provisional Selection List was notified as per Annexure-A to this Notification.
