Rehbar-e-Khel Physical Education Teachers get 50% Hike in Honorarium

In a significant move aimed at boosting the morale of physical education teachers and enhancing sports activities in schools, the Administrative Council (AC) chaired by Lieutenant Governor Sh. Manoj Sinha has approved a 50% hike in honorarium for 2417 Rehbar-e-Khel(s) (ReK) teachers under the Youth Services and Sports Department.

The decision, which was endorsed by Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor, Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary, and Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor, during the council meeting, comes as a welcome development for the education sector in the Union Territory.

This decision follows the recommendations made by a High Powered Committee led by the Chief Secretary, which was constituted for this purpose in 2021. The committee’s proposal to increase the honorarium by 50% for Rehbar-e-Khel teachers reflects a commitment to recognize and reward their invaluable contribution to promoting sports and physical fitness among students.

The augmented honorarium is expected to serve as a motivating factor for ReK teachers, encouraging them to continue their efforts towards the promotion and popularization of sports activities in schools across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

This move underscores the administration’s dedication to fostering a culture of sports and fitness among the youth, aligning with broader efforts to nurture talent and holistic development among students.
